JUNE - 06 - 2001 Monolith Soft has released some interesting info on their upcoming RPG.
Fist of all, to make everything clear, YES Xenogears was made by Squaresoft, and squresoft is not making Xenosaga, but Monolith Soft is. Monolith Soft is a company made out of the ex-workers of Squaresoft ... very similar to the creators of Koulelka which was also made by ex-employees of Square, but not Monolith Soft ... but the only difference here is that the programmers at Monolith WERE in charge of Xenogears as well, so you can expect the game to be just as good. Ohh... and BTW Monolith Soft is owned by Namco.
And back to the point. Here's what we know: - Xenosaga is a prequel to Xenogears. - The game will be titled Xenosaga: Episode 1 Chikare e no Ishi ... which translates to "Will to Power". - There will be NO-RANDOM BATTLES and you'll be able to see the enemies before you encounter them (like in Chrono Cross ... probably) but the enemies will seek you out. - The game is 30% complete and is due in Japan before the end of this year (December to be specific). - The game will use real time CG (like in MGS2) rather then pre-rendered (like in FF series). - The game will ship on two DVDs. - Xenosaga will not feature a camera control but instead you will have to rely on the view chosen by the game programmers (like in FF series). - The main character is a female named Shion Uzuki, who apparently has no relation to Xenogears' Dr. Citan Uzuki.
